If you're an Ellen DeGeneres fan, you've probably dreamed of getting tickets to a taping of her talk show in Los Angeles. The good news is that tickets are free. The bad news is that tapings often fill up weeks in advance. But if you can plan far enough in advance, getting free tickets to see "Ellen" is easy. Here's how:

  1. Visit the show's online ticket calendar. Tapings are scheduled Monday through Thursday.
  2. Select up to two months in advance the date of the taping you'd like to attend. Dates with available tickets will be clearly labeled.
  3. Fill out the request form and submit. You can only select one date at a time.
  4. Wait for a representative from the show to contact you. Tickets are booked in the order they're received (first come, first served).
  5. Inform the representative of any special needs you may have, such as wheelchair access.
  6. You'll receive an email confirmation within two weeks. The email will contain instructions for attending the taping, as well as the time you must arrive by. If you do not receive an email, the show is booked up and no tickets are available.

Standby Tickets

In addition to free advance tickets, "Ellen" also releases a small number of standby tickets available the day of taping. To request tickets on the day of the show, call (818) 954-5929 before noon Pacific time.

For More Information

The "Ellen" show website has a page for participating in the show's games and features and a great FAQ section for people who have secured tickets to a taping. You'll find tips on what you can and can't bring to the studio when you should arrive, plus advice on giving Ellen gifts or asking for her autograph. Here are a few other things to remember:

  • Be sure to bring your confirmation email and a photo ID.
  • You must be 14 years or older to attend a taping, and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Because of the high volume of requests, one visit per season is allowed.
  • Times and dates are subject to change.
  • There is no travel reimbursement if a program is canceled.
