Guide Review - Overview: Jim Rome is Burning
For years, Jim Rome the radio broadcaster has shared his heated sports opinions with legions of fans. Since 2001, Rome has leant that voice and those opinions to a 30-minute talk show on ESPN, aptly title Jim Rome is Burning.
In a way, Rome is the sports equivalent of Bill OReilly or Chris Matthews, but since sports fanaticism isnt a two-party system (unless you count the love em or hate em attitude most people have about sports teams), its hard to dismiss Jim and his ideas. What makes it even harder is he seems pretty dead on most of the time.
Consider Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback who almost ended his enormous career by not wearing a motorcycle helmet. Rome called him to the carpet on that one, stating that he should do no less than declare a moratorium on motorcycle riding until his retirement. Two days later, Ben did just that.
Romes format has him standing during most of the program, commenting on the days sports headlines and then interviewing professionals throughout the sports world.
