Guide Review - Overview: The Best Damn Sports Show Period
Fox Sports debuted The Best Damn Sports Show Period in 2001 on its cable sports channel. The show, featuring comedian Tom Arnold, commentator Chris Rose and active and retired athtletes, became an instant hit. It slowly grew from a one-hour chat show to a two-hour cornerstone program.
It has since returned to its one-hour roots and may be waning a bit in popularity. Original host Tom Arnold has left the program, but Chris Rose remains, along with John Salley, Rodney Peete and Ron Dibble. Some fans feel this is a better program, since it features far more sports stars.
The intimacy of the program is its biggest draw. The hosts sit together in what could be called a living room or den-like set, surrounding by sports paraphernalia. They chat about current issues and interview sports stars, often with a comedic bent and a definite in the know attitude.
