Guide Review - Overview: Talkshow with Spike Feresten
Talkshow with Spike Feresten is wonderfully subversive and, in its third season, still quirky and still chock full of black humor and quick wit.
Now in its third season, Talkshow carries the unique honor of being the longest running late night talk show on Fox. Past talk show host wannabes included Chevy Chase and Magic Johnson.
Feresten says his team is hoping to create the same vibe David Letterman created when he first started Late Night on NBC more than 25 years ago. It's fast-paced half-hour, combining elements of a traditional talk show with irreverent comedy sketches, lends itself to exactly that - but more. In this instance, Feresten is forced to keep only the good stuff, as his half-hour, once-a-week window doesn't allow for too much improv, too much off-the-cuff, and too much lag time, also a hallmark of Early Letterman.
All in all, if you haven't seen Feresten yet, it's time to check Talkshow out.
