Star was born :
on March 24, 1962, in New Jersey.
Growing up with Star:
After collecting her degree from Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, N.J., Star shot over to American University where she garnered her bachelors degree in the Administration of Justice. Next, a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center.
Stars Early Career:
Her early career wasnt as a talk show host, but as an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn, NY, she needed all the communications skills and more that her future talk show career would demand. As a D.A. (eventually Senior Assistant D.A.), Star clocked in a record of 31 convictions out of 33 cases prosecuted.
Stars Later Career:
Her outgoing personality and her winning conviction record landed her on Court TV as a commentator in 1991. That led to a stint on The Today Show and NBC Nightly News. She covered the O.J. Simpson case for Inside Edition, an entertainment news program, and soon caught the eye of producers from The View.
Becoming a Talk Show Host:
Star joined Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar and Debbie Matenopoulos in 1997 as a co-host for the debut of The View. Her tenure on the program was a mix of outspokenness, popularity, surprise and controversy.
She ended her time on The View in 2006, when she abruptly announced that she was leaving the show, soon after learning that her contract was not to be renewed. Rosie ODonnel was named as new co-host, shortly thereafter (though technically, Rosie replaced Meredith Vieira, who left to join The Today Show. Stars replacement wouldnt come until September 2007, when Sherri Shepherd joined the group).
What the Future Holds:
Independence! Star launched her own talk show, Star Jones, on Court TV, August 20, 2007. Shes also substituted as host of Larry King Live and has appeared as emcee and actress on other television programs. It seems her view of The View is one of the past is the past.
