Here are the talk show nominees for Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program

1. The Colbert Report

When you're spoofing a show like "The O'Reilly Factor," you'd better get your subject matter down -- and "Colbert Report" director Jim Hoskinson knows his stuff. Who better to catch the quick moves and sudden spins of host Stephen Colbert? Heck, half the comedy is in the timing of the cuts and cutaways.

2. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

Like its counterpart, "the Colbert Report," directing on "The Daily Show" means comic timing. What might look subtle -- a perfectly timed corner graphic with a pithy or punchy title -- is closer to knowing where the think line between funny and awkward lies. Director Chuck O'Neil knows where that is.

3. 80th Annual Academy Awards

The annual awards ceremony during which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences hands out Oscars to the best films of the year. Director Louis J. Horvitz gets the nod.

4. Company (Great Performances

Director John Doyle's Tony-winning revival of the Sondheim-Furth musical. This time directed by Lonny Price.

5. Saturday Night Live

The 33-year-old late night sketch comedy program on NBC. And with a name like Don Roy King, you've got to be a nominee.
