The Buzz! (vol. 1, issue 2)

By Thomas Tennant, About.com

Star’s Shine Tarnished?:

The recently former co-host of The View seemingly has been brushed off by two cable news networks, FOX and CNN, reports TMZ.com. Both said they have no interest in Star, regardless of rumors to the contrary, though CNN admits anything can happen.

Star, for the few of you who may not know, was let-go by producers of The View, who cited her lack of popularity as one of the main reasons for her dismissal. Star, on the other hand, has made some suggestion that Rosie O’Donnell’s hiring may have, in part, led to the network’s decision to drop her.

“What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the 10th season,” she told People magazine. “I feel like I was fired.” She claims in the same article that she learned of the news a few days before the network announced Rosie’s hiring.

The Buzz’s take? The severing of ties from The View is still too fresh. Fresh enough that no one wants to enter the fray. It’s kind of like a messy break-up. No one wants to date either party until some time has passed.

Thus, The Buzz is suggesting that Star relax for a few months and allow the cooling off period to – you know – cool off. Her recent appearance on Larry King Live, in which she shared her side of the story, was enough. Even if people want to talk about it – wait a bit.

Take a cue from Jennifer Aniston, who spent some time in PR seclusion before coming out to discuss her divorce from Brad Pitt. Even then, she kept the talk high-level and brought things back to how she’s moving forward – and not dwelling in the past. She didn’t seek sympathy, but, man, has she received it.

The same thing can happen with Star. But she’s gotta be willing to let it happen.

A Better ‘View’?:

On the flip side, the same TMZ.com article reports that life on The View’s set is a kinder, happier place since Star’s departure. But that’s understandable, too.

The Buzz refers back to the relationship analogy. Ever been around a couple that’s destined for split-up? Tension, anxiety, all-around gloominess.

Then, afterward, did you spend some time with either – or both – parties? Generally an easier, happier and far less crabby time.

Depending on who’s doing the break-up and why, of course.

Conan Does Stuyvesant:

Look, the fact of the matter is, The Buzz is a big fan of Conan O’Brien. Thus, it is with glee that we share this great seven minute clip from YouTube: Conan’s commencement speech to the Stuyvesant High School senior class.

It is a wonderful bit of fun. And I’m sure that it’s all down hill from here for Stuyvesant’s future commencement speakers.

You just can’t top Conan.
