Who: Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show is playing host. Expect many of the show's correspondents, like John Oliver and Samantha Bee to be on hand.
What: The Rally to Restore Sanity is, in Stewart's words, "A million moderate march! Where we take to the streets to send a message to our leaders and our national media that says, 'We're here! We are ... only here until 6 p.m. because we have a sitter."
Where: Washington, D.C., on the National Mall.
When: October 30 from mid- to late-afternoon.
Why: The rally is meant as a temper to more polarizing rallies, like Fox News pundit Glenn Beck's August 2010 "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington, D.C. Stewart has labeled it a "Call to Reasonableness" and says he hopes moderates from the left and right will attend. Recently, he has even courted Fox News' Bill O'Reilly as a potential guest.
"Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) - not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point," reads the official website.
