Executive produced by Dr. Phil McGraw and his son, Jay, one could interpret The Doctors as either a spin-off of Dr. Phil or a complement to that show. More likely, The Doctors is a response to the growing popularity of Dr. Oz, as both shows tackle real medical and health issues through the eyes of real medical professionals.

The concept began on Dr. Phil, with several medical professionals gathering to discuss issues either too embarrassing to ask or topical for the day. The show's main host, Dr. Travis Stork, was a regular guest on The Dr. Phil Show.

Popular topics on the show include exercise tips and tricks, medical breakthroughs "you need to know," and how color and environment affects health. The show also talks about those things everyone wants to talk about, but no one wants to bring up, like annoying body problems and "what is and isn't normal."
