King of Late Night David Letterman married his long-time girlfriend Regina Lasko March 19, 2009. Here’s the low-down on the couple and their marriage.
WHO: Talk show host David Letterman and Regina Lasko, a former television production professional. The two have a son, Harry, who was born in 2003.
WHAT: The two were married after dating for 23 years. Joked Dave on the Late Show when announcing the marriage, "Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, `Well, things are going pretty good, let's just see what happens in about 10 years.'"
WHERE: Letterman and Lasko exchanged vows at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana. Getting to the courthouse proved a bit of a challenge. While en route, their truck became stuck in the mud. After waiting a while to see if someone would pass by, Letterman walked two miles back to their home to get a second vehicle.
WHEN: March 19, 2009, specifically, but after many years of dating. "I secretly felt that men who were married admired me, like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?" explained Dave to his Late Show audience. Dave was married once before.
WHY: The time felt right. "People say, 'You were together so long. Does it feel any different?' And I say, 'Yeah. It does.,'” Letterman told his audience.
ANYTHING ELSE: According to reports, Lasko wore navy blue and peach-colored rose corsage, Letterman in a neat suit. Justice of the Peace Pete Howard officiated and family friends Genevieve and Lee Barhaugh witnessed the ceremony.
No telling when and where the honeymoon was. Dave returned to work the very next week.
