Even today, people will add a comment extolling Kathie Lee’s virtues or imploring Today to send her packing. Most blog posts receive one or two comments. Right now, 50 people have shared their opinions.

One poster writes, “As a life-long viewer of the Today Show, I reacted to the addition of Kathie Lee Gifford by switching to Good Morning America and keeping my set tuned AWAY from NBC.”

Another: “I can’t believe the negative comments re: Kathie Lee Gifford. She is the most entertaining funniest lady with so much class I watch the show faithfully and tape it when I am not home.”

Tuesday What To Watch: The Quick Funny Fox

Sure, it’s a repeat, but we love Michael J. Fox. And his overview of parenthood and outlook on optimism is inspiring.

Fox, best known for his television roles on Family Ties and Spin City, as well as his turn as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future franchise, appears tonight on Late Show with David Letterman.

Speaking of Letterman, the king of late night scored his first weekly total-viewer victory since 2005 over The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Letterman attracted 3.5 million viewers to O’Brien’s 3.3 million, reports Nielsen Media Research.

O’Brien is still pulling in more viewers aged 18 to 34, but that number, along with total viewership, continues to slip since his June 1 debut.

Remembering Michael Jackson: Jackson’s Interview with Oprah Winfrey

It’s been quite a few years since “King of Pop” Michael Jackson was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey - it was 1993 to be exact – and footage of the landmark meeting is hard to find. But the interview speaks volumes about the pop singer’s impact on the world and how, 16 years ago, he was still a musical force.

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009, of an apparent cardiac arrest.

The interview was conducted at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch and a tour of the 2,700-acre facility was part of the 90 minute Oprah special. Furthermore, the interview as live and broadcast around the world.

Oprah mentions early in the interview that the singer was open to talking about “everything.” And Oprah never shies away from anything. The two talk about his early life, which he describes as “lonely, sad, having to face popularity and all that.”

Jackson even mentions a time when he was at a record study recording and was able to see a playground full of children his age. “I would cry because it would make me sad that I would have to work instead.”

Jackson talks about the rumor he owned the bones of John Merrick, the Elephant Man. He discusses the Pepsi commercials, a moment during which pyrotechnics caught his hair on fire. Plastic surgery, Elizabeth Taylor, Neverland Ranch.

Perhaps most revealing is his discussion about the children he once entertained at Neverland Ranch and how he considered that an attempt to recapture his own lost childhood. This is at a time before allegations about improprieties surfaced.

You can read the full interview at AllMichaelJackson.com.

What To Watch Wednesday: Valerie’s Cover Shoot

What 10-year-old kid didn’t?

So you can guess who will be tuning into Rachael Ray today to catch behind-the-scenes footage of Bertinelli’s recent cover shoot for Fitness magazine.

Then rather than watch how to turn my apartment into a cool Hollywood-style pad, tune into Oprah to get the lowdown on how Nate goes “extreme makeover” and gives a family the dream house they deserve.

Hasselbeck Accused of Plagiarism

A Cape Cod, Mass., author is accusing View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck of plagiarism.

The author, Susan Hassett, filed suit in federal court in Massachusetts on Monday. Hasselbeck is said to have copied word-for-word information on celiac disease from Hassett’s book, “Living with Celiac Disease.” Hasselbeck’s book is titled “The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.”

In a twist, Hassett says she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her book after the co-host revealed she suffers from the disease, an autoimmune disorder in which consumption of gluten causes the body’s immune system to attack and damage the small intestine.

Along with allegedly lifting text, the suit claims Hasselbeck’s book is also similarly organized and formatted.

In a statement, Hasselbeck’s publisher says the allegations are baseless and that Hasselbeck worked tirelessly and diligently on her book.

UPDATED: Today on The View, Hasselbeck told viewers "This week a claim was filed with regard to my book 'The G-Free Diet.' I assure you that the allegations are without merit, and are being handled appropriately."

Ed McMahon Dead at 86

Ed McMahon, Tonight Show announcer and sidekick to host Johnny Carson for 30 years, has died. He was 86.

McMahon died after midnight June 23 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. No cause of death was announced, though multiple health problems, including bone cancer, have been attributed to him.

In his final months, illness and financial problems plagued the talk show icon and kept him from working.

McMahon was born March 6, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., and grew up in Lowell, Mass. A graduate of Boston College and The Catholic University of America, McMahon began his television career in Lowell at a small AM station. He’d later join WCAU in Philadelphia as, primarily, a game show host.

It was as a game show announcer that McMahon met Johnny Carson. Carson was the host, and the game show was Who Do You Trust?. The dynamic duo left the game show to take on The Tonight Show. And the rest, as they say, is history.
