Poor ratings for The Martha Stewart Show forced The Hallmark Channel to cancel the program. Martha Stewart's long-running talk show will come to an end in April, though re-runs will continue through the summer.
The final few months will be like a smaller version of the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show, with small celebrations and a lavish final episode.
There is a chance the show could be resurrected in some form in the future. Though poor ratings and high production values have nixed the current program, if Martha Stewart's company brings production in-house, production costs could drop. Lower costs would create a better business model for its niche audience - and The Martha Stewart Show could return.
When and in what way is anyone's guess.
