Friday was Regis Philbin's final Live and the celebrity well-wishes ran deep. Philbin hosted the popular program for 28 years.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was there, presenting Regis with a key to the city. "You have been New York City's biggest fan for 28 years," he said. "And I just wanted to come and tell you New York feels the same way about you."
In the audience and on stage were Tony Danza, Donald Trump, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira and more. Justin Timberlake, Anne Hathaway and others paid tribute by video.
When Philbin announced that he planned to retire from the show (though he is adamant that he is not retiring; merely "moving on"), one reason was to spend more time with his family. That family includes wife Joy and two daughters. Joy shared the stage with Regis and his daughters wished him well from tape.
"He's going to drive my mother nuts," one said.
