Meredith Vieira, co-host of The Today Show, has announced she will leave the program in June. Vieira joined the show in September 2006 after former co-host Katie Couric left to join CBS News.
Speculation broke a couple weeks ago that Vieira was planning to leave the show, having grown tired of the pace and wanting to spend more time with her husband, who suffers from multiple sclerosis.
There's little speculation on who will succeed Vieira, however. Longtime newsreader Ann Curry is said to have already garnered the co-host job. Natalie Morales will move up to fill Ann's spot.
Rumbles about whether co-host Matt Lauer will stick around also bubbled up when Vieira first mention she might leave. His contract is up in 2012.
NBC is expected to announce the changes Monday morning, May 2. But after recent news that Osama bin Laden is dead, that announcement may wait a day or more.
