It’s Official: Leno Out of Primetime

Primetime Jay Leno. The New Coke of talk shows?

It sort of seems that way, as NBC makes it official: The Jay Leno Show will disappear from NBC's primetime 10 p.m. spot after Feb. 12.

The most likely scenario: Leno returns to the 11:35 p.m. spot, followed at midnight by The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon would follow at 1 a.m.

The reason for the shift is blamed on a number of affiliate stations that threatened to drop the Leno Show because of low ratings, according to the Associated Press.

Talks resume Monday, as the new lineup remains unofficial. Leno and O'Brien have through Monday to think about it.
