Letterman Apologizes to Palin

David Letterman, host of the Late Show with David Letterman took time Monday night to formally apologize to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for making what he called “course jokes” about her daughters, Bristol and Willow.
"I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault that it was misunderstood,” he said, in part. "I'm sorry about it, and I'll try to do better in the future."
Gov. Palin accepted the apology.
In a statement, she said that she accepted his apology "on behalf of all young women, like my daughters, who hope men who `joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve."
Senator John McCain appeared on The Today Show to discuss other matters, but commented briefly on the kafuffle. “We should move on,” he said.

Letterman did NOT apologize for those inexcusable jokes about the Palin girls!! He apologized only _under pressure_ that his intent was misunderstood. His intent?! Misunderstood? There’s no misunderstanding those crude jokes about those young girls nor his intent in telling them. Letterman is a disgraceful jerk and should be fired!
I can’t believe he apologized, and that it’s become such a huge issue of gender. It was a joke, it was not meant to hurt and Palin’s abusing this to get more limelight instead of taking care of her children so they don’t keep having children.
There is NO EXCUSE for telling anything LIKE what came out of his disgusting sewer of a mouth. Oh yeah, “Auntie Sue” needs to get her act together!!! If YOU think THAT was a JOKE then you deserve to be right along WITH HIM!!! YOU & HE have NO DEFENSE on THIS!!! KEEP your damned opinions to yourselves you disgusting PERVERTS, & get yourselves RIGHT you DISGUSTING TRASH!!!!!!!!! He needs to be FIRED, DRAWN, & QUARTERED to say the least!!!! This 62 year old CHILD needs to be OFF the air PERMENENTLY, & doesn’t deserve to breath the same air as decent people do (same goes for this [Auntie Sue] piece of garbage). I wonder how he gets that brown ring off of his neck every night before he goes & spews his filth, considering WHERE he KEEPS his head buried. I always thought that methane gas was poisonus to people. Well, now I KNOW of at least 2 that it doesn’t kill (wish it did).
James portrays himself from his writings, as the same as he discribes Antie Sue and Mr. Letterman.

While Mr. Letterman is certainly fair game when it comes to criticism and response, I’d ask those commenting to refrain from personally attacking other commenters. Everyone has an opinion, and I’d like to hear them all – but about those in the public eye, not those that are sharing their opinion in this open forum.

There is no excuse for what Letterman said. If he had daughters, it may have never been said. His forced apology was pathetic.
