The Daytime Emmy battle is brewing, and this year’s contenders are Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray and all those women from The View.

Those are the three series - The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Rachael Ray Show and The View – nominated for Outstanding Talk Show – Entertainment for the 35th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Battling in the new category of Outstanding Talk Show – Informative, are Dr. Phil, The Tyra Banks Show and A Place of Our Own/Los Ninos En Su Casa, PBS’s child care educational series.

Ellen and the ladies from The View – Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck – are joined by Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa (Live with Regis and Kelly) in the category of Outstanding Talk Show Host. Regis and Kelly are the Susan Lucci’s of the talk show world – often nominated, rarely awarded. They’ve even cooked up their own version of the Emmys (the Rellys) to help them lick their annual Emmy wounds.

Talk Show directing nods go to Ellen, Regis and Kelly and The View; and a writing Emmy will be awarded to either Ellen, The View or the non-talker Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford.
