Ever since Iggygate, one of our faves, Ellen DeGeneres, has found nothing but trouble.
Her latest trouble comes from striking film and television writers, members of the Writers Guild of America, East, who, with their West Coast brethren, are in the midst of a work stoppage against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Writers are miffed that Ellen is back to work after a one-day protest in support of her writers.
Ellen conducted the walk out last Monday, Nov. 5, when the strike began, but returned to work a day later, citing contractual obligations. The return shocked writers, in part because Ellen is a card-carrying member of the WGA and in part because she took a longer break to recover from a short week under the media microscope after inadvertently breaking pet adoption rules by giving her adopted dog, Iggy, to her hairdresser.
The rift with scribes may have prompted Ellen to cancel planned filming of several shows in New York City . No word from Ellen’s camp if that’s the exact reason. But, then again, no word that it’s not.
