Lots to Talk About in This Week’s Picks

Hah-boy.

If you didn’t catch some of the headlines this week, it might be best to go back and do a little perusing. Some of the players involved in those hot topics will make their way to a talk show near you during the week.

Reese Witherspoon, hot of her divorce from husband/actor Ryan Phillipe is sitting down with Jay Leno on Tuesday and Ellen DeGeneres on Friday. Chances are slim the high profile celebrity break up will be the topic of conversation – but you never know.

Sure to be a topic of conversation is Donny Deutsch’s appearance on The View Friday. I think there’s little doubt Whoopi and Joy will share their thoughts regarding Deutsch’s recent interview with the misguided mouthpiece Ann Coulter on his show, The Big Idea. The real question – how will Elisabeth react? (My suggestion? Don’t.)

The top two Democratic candidates are back on the air (check out the 2008 Campaign Guest Schedule to find out where and when), and new Price is Right host Drew Carey stops by Ellen’s show. And Ben Affleck, of all people, does a short round of public appearances, possibly to remind folks that he’s still out there. (You really can’t help loving the guy, even if his career has dipped a bit.)

Simply put, there’s too much to even think about DVRing this week. How will we fit all this in?

• Monday: Follow the funny to the Late Late Show when Craig Ferguson hosts the always entertaining Michael Caine.

• Tuesday: A day after his debut as host of The Price is Right, Drew Carey stops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

• Wednesday: It’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the ladies of The View are dedicating their entire hour to helping raise awareness about this disease – one that affects 1 in every 8 women.

• Thursday: If you even happened on NBC the last couple of days, you probably saw Jerry Seinfeld talking up his anticipated animated feature, Bee Movie. He’ll be doing much the same when he chat with Leno on The Tonight Show. Even still, Seinfeld’s a treat to watch. (Catch his better half earlier in the week when Jessica Seinfeld visits Live with Regis and Kelly on Monday.)

• Friday: You’re not going to want to miss Donny Deutsch’s visit to The View. There’s little doubt the show’s hosts will want to know from Donny what “The Big Idea” was behind Ann Coulter’s recent visit to his show.
