Larry King Celebrating 50 Years of Broadcasting
with Award, Special Week of Shows

The Arizona State University at Phoenix is giving talk show host Larry King one of its highest honors. The school will present King with the Hugh Downs Award for Communication Excellence in commemoration of his 50 years in broadcasting. King marks the milestone this month.

Hugh Downs, the renowned journalist, will present King with the award next Wednesday, April 11. King will sit in the guest chair of a replica of his famed CNN Larry King Live set as Downs provides the interview from across the desk.

Larry King will commemorate his time next week with a series of high-profile interviews, including:

  • Monday, April 16: Oprah Winfrey
  • Tuesday, April 17: Katie Couric interviews Larry
  • Wednesday, April 18: "Larry King: 50 years of Pop Culture" with Anderson Cooper and Ryan Seacrest
  • Thursday, April 19: Bill Clinton
  • Friday, April 20: An all-star celebration hosted by Bill Maher
