Larry King Doing Well After Surgery
Two venerable talk shows hosts, two similar surgeries.
The first: Regis Philbin, host of Live with Regis and Kelly, who underwent triple by-pass surgery earlier in the week.
The second: Larry King, host of Larry King Live, who is doing well after vascular surgery Friday. Doctors at Cedars Sinai Medical Center performed carotid endarterectomy surgery, which removes plaque from the carotid artery and can restore blood flow. He plans to be back in the driver’s seat on Monday.
Which is where we start this week’s list of what to watch – and the pickings are slim, as many of our favorite shows bulk up on late winter/early spring reruns. And, as always, if the grass doesn’t look so green on this list, check out Look Who’s Talking! for all of this week’s schedules.
- Monday: Larry King – back from surgery – interviews Senator Barak Obama on the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq.
- Tuesday: A tip of the hat to Melina Kanakaredes, who appears on The View. Melina used to babysit the next-door neighbor’s daughters when I was growing up in Akron, Ohio. (Yes, a little name dropping, but I gotta give the hometown heroes their props.) Also, Willie Nelson appears on The Colbert Report, no doubt to go man-to-man with Colbert over his dispute with Nelson’s competing Ben & Jerry’s flavor, “Country Peach Cobbler.” Colbert’s? “Americone Dream.”
- Wednesday: Who doesn’t want to see a refrigerator that shoots beer cans? John Cornwell shows off his machine on the Late Show with David Letterman.
- Thursday: Get your funny bone tickled by Will Ferrell when he alights on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
- Friday: The Best Damn Sports Show Period presents the Top 50 Slam Dunks -- just in time for March Madness.
