Oprah fans! Beware of thieves!
I’m about to head out the door to celebrate the holiday with my family, but I wanted to include a quick note about recent reports warning Oprah fans (and anyone else searching for tickets) to be aware of identity thieves.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is warning fans that “thieves have been sending unsolicited e-mails asking people to send them personal information, verify financial information or wire money to a third party for tickets to the show.” The thieves then steal the personal information provided.
As always, tickets to The Oprah Winfrey Show, along with every talk show with a studio audience are free and only available through reputable sources -- namely the show itself. If you receive one of these e-mails, regardless of how difficult it is to get tickets to Oprah, do not respond.
